Lanes & Avenues...


                                                                         Lanes & Avenues


This is my first pattern so please bare with me.

Marterials: Any sock weight yarn your choice.

2.50mm DPN's,or Circular needle.
Cable needle,
Tapestry needle.

Abbreviations:
Sts (stitches),
St (stitch)
* (repeat)
CN (cable needle)
 Alt (alternate)
K (Knit)   
 k2tog (knit 2 together)
P (Purl)      
K2togtbl (Knit 2 together through back loop)
R (round,or Row)
Sl (slip)
PSSO (pass slip stitch over)
Sl 1 pw ( slip 1 purlwise)
ssk (slip 2 knitwise, one at a time, from the left to right needle, insert left needle tip through both front loops and knit together from this position = 1st decreased)

Cuff:
Cast on 60 sts, dividing  evenly over your needles. Join round remember not to twist your sts.

Start Ribbing,
K 2, P1, to end, work these sts for 11 round's

Set up row,
K 1, P1, K12, P1. 4 times (if using Dpns)

LEG

R1: K1, P1,* K2tog, yo* 3 times, K 6, P 1. Do this over the 4 needles.
R2: And all alt rows: K1,P1, K12, P1. Over 4 needles.

R3: K1, P1,K1,* K2tog, yo* 2 times, K1, Sl 1st onto CN hold at back of work, K2, now K1 from CN, K3,P1.

R5: K1, P1, K2, K2tog, yo, K1,Sl 1st onto CN hold at back of work, K2, now K1 from CN, K4, P1.

R7:K1, P1, K4, K1,Sl 1st onto CN hold at back of work, K2, now K1 from CN, K1, yo, K2togtbl, K2, P1.

R9: K1, P1, K3, Sl 1st onto CN hold at back of work, K2, now K1 from CN, K1, * yo, K2togtbl*  2 times, K1, P1.

R11: K1, P1, K6, * yo, K2togtbl*  3 times, P1.

R13: K1, P1, K3, Sl 2 sts onto CN hold at front of work K1 now K2 from CN, K1, * yo, K2togtbl*  2 times, K1, P1.

R15: K1, P1, K4, Sl 2 sts onto CN hold at front of work K1 now K2 from CN, K1, yo, K2togtbl, K2, P1.

R17: K1, P1, K2, k2tog, yo, K1, Sl 2 sts onto CN hold at front of work K1 now K2 from CN, K4, P1.

R19: K1, P1, K1, * K2tog, yo* 2 times, K1, Sl 2 sts onto CN hold at front of work K1 now K2 from CN, K3, P1.

R20: K1,P1, K12, P1. Over 4 needles.

Cotinue with pattern till desired leg length, I did  three pattern repeats. Mark down which  row of pattern you stop on for the foot.

Heel Flap: Arrange the stitches on the needles  so that you have ( all the stitches from needle 1, the last stitch from needle 4 and  4 stitches from needle 2.You should have  a full pattern at the back of leg and the front of the leg also.


R1:Purl 20sts.                                                                                                                                                                                          
R2: *Sl 1st  purlwise, K1* to end of row.                                                           
Repeat these 2 rows for 2 " or desired lenght.



Turn Heel:

R1: Sl 1 pw, K12 sts, ssk, K1, turn
R2: Sl 1 pw, p7, p2tog, P1, turn
R3: Sl 1 pw, Knit to 1st before gap, ssk,K1, turn
R4: Sl 1 pw, purl to 1st before gap, P2tog, P1, turn
Continue with row's 3 and 4 until 14 sts remain.

Gusset:
Pick up all slipped sts and cotinue pattern you may have to arrange stitches to do this, and start your decreases on the 2nd round.
when you have all dereases done you should have 42sts on top of foot and 18sts for the sole.
cotinue in pattern until 2" from toe or desired lenght.

The Toe I chose is the  Star toe of 3 point's tou can choose which ever toe you prefer.
Start in middle of  the sole.
Arrange stitches onto 3 needle's 20sts on each needle
TOE

R1: K9, P1.
R2-5: Knit.
R6: P2tog, K15, P2tog, K1, to the end 54sts.
R7-10: Knit.
R11: K1, P2tog, K11, P2tog, K2, to the end 48sts.
R12-15: Knit.
R16: K2, P2tog, K7, P2tog, K3, to end 42sts.
R17-20: Knit.
R21: K3, P2tog, K3, P2tog, K4, to end 36sts.
R22-25: Knit.
R26: K4, p3tog, K5, to end 30sts.
R27: K3, P3tog, k4, to end 24sts.
R28: K2, P3tog, k3, to end 18sts.
R29: K1, P3tog, k2, to end 12sts.
R30: P3tog, K1, to end 6sts.

Cut yarn  enough to pull through remaining stitches draw tight to close opening fasten off sew in tail.

Now  make second sock well done..
I hope you enjoy making these sock's as much as I did, these  I made for my sister Theresa, she is a taxi driver and she goes up Lanes and down Avenues.
